Danielle Goldstein Helps Young Israeli Rider Hone Skills for the Future
Wellington, FL (April 9, 2014) – In addition to competing successfully at the prestigous FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF), Danielle Goldstein of Starwyn Farms in Wellington is known for her dedication to supporting Israel’s budding equestrian community. She’s hosted clinics in Israel and is an athlete in The Equine Athletics Mission Israel, or T.E.A.M. Israel, which strives to bring Israeli equestrians to success on the international stage. Recently Goldstein even opened her barn and offered her knowledge and experience of the international show jumping world to young Israeli rider Amit Dotan.
“I met Amit in Israel a while ago and she contacted me, asking if she could come train with me during the Winter Equestrian Festival this year,” Danielle says. “I said of course, I’d love to help. She’s a talented rider, and I think it’s important to expose the younger generations of Israeli riders to the top level of the sport, so I encouraged her to come. Her long term goals are very much in line with my personal goals–the Olympics, and competing at the top level of the sport under the Israeli flag.”
Goldstein believes that Israel has tremendous potential for developing successful equestrian competitors, but it will take time to effectively train young riders to become strong professional equestrians.
“Part of T.E.A.M. Israel’s mission is to help develop the sport to higher levels within Israel, and expose everyone in the industry to high level sport. Here in Wellington you can see all levels of the sport, so it’s a great place to get that exposure,” said Goldstein.
Dotan, who visited for 10 days, leased a horse of Goldstein’s as well as one other, and gained unmatched hands on experience between riding a high caliber of horse and learning from experts in the industry. “I think this is a great way for people to get a taste of international sport, to come to a prestigious show like the Winter Equestrian Festival and reap huge benefits without making a big commitment,” said Goldstein. “I think it’s inspiring to be able to ride next to and watch the top riders in the sport, and it is an experience people can take home with them.”
In 2010, US-born Goldstein became a dual citizen of the United States and Israel so that she could represent Israel in competition.
That dream came to fruition in the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup, held on Friday, February 27, 2014 in Wellington, Florida. Danielle Goldstein, Elad Yaniv, and Joshua Tabor made up the first show jumping team in history to represent Israel in a Nations Cup. The team knew that they were going in to the competition as underdogs, but that didn’t stop them from giving their all to fulfill their dream of putting Israel on the map of the equestrian world.
“Equestrian sport can be a source of pride for the country and another way of bringing positive attention to Israel,” she says.
