The series begins with The Eighth Grade Dinner Dance. As junior high school ends, the friends negotiate eighth grade social life and prepare to begin the next phase of life: high school. In this book, Nancy walks a fine line between keeping the boy she has a crush on interested while not acting like she’s interested, all the while trying to outwit her rival, Vicky. Both are up for the coveted “Queen of the Dance”, and Larry’s attention.
The next books in this series follow Nancy and her friends over the summer and into their first semester in high school.
