Wellington, FL (August 2, 2013) – The summer of 2013 is certainly proving to be a hot one, and in the jumper world right now, nobody is sizzling more than Vita Flex Victory Team member Todd Minikus. Since early this year, Minikus has been riding his way to victory upon victory, and Vita Flex is excited to take a mid-summer moment to cheer on his hot winning streak.

Minikus started 2013 with a round of top finishes at the FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival competing against other champion equestrian athletes with Quality Girl and Macoemba. Riding Quality Girl, whom he had begun working just prior to the start of the Circuit, Minikus won the G&C Farm 1.45m Jumper Classic. He then went on to place within the top 10 in the World Cup Qualifier, finishing 9th with Macoemba. Of the champion equine athletes that helped him start the year strong, Minikus says that “to be able to feel that power, speed and athleticism and the amount of effort the horses give – that is a special thing.”

Following this up, Minikus rode Quality Girl to win three consecutive victories at the Live Oak International Horse Show in Ocala Florida, claiming the 1.30m Waldron Wealth Management Power & Speed class, E2 Show Jumpers Welcome Stake, and CSI2* Grand Prix. The victories earned him the G&C Farm Leading Rider bonus. Then, in early May, Minikus continued the streak on Uruguay when the pair claimed the Old Salem Farm Grand Prix presented by Suncast at the Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows. He also took the Open Jpr 1.30 112c and the Open Jpr 1.30 II.1 aboard Tibor at Old Salem. Moving on to Devon, Minikus then won the Open Jumper Gambler’s Choice riding Tuxedo.

Things continued to heat up for Minikus in June when at Saugerties he and Quality Girl claimed both the $25,000 SmartPak Grand Prix and the $10,000 Brookledge Open Welcome. The pair also took first place at the Saratoga Classic in the Landgero Cup Grand Prix. Minikus also took second place in this same class atop Udonnay Z, and he wasn’t done at this show yet! In the 1.30m Jumper II 2c, Minikus took a first riding Catch Me, as well as third place aboard Donnafee.

Minikus is continuing to sizzle this summer, and most recently took second with Quality Girl in the July 17-21 HITS-on-the-Hudson IV $10,000 Brook Ledge Open Welcome, and first place with Oh Junior in the Level 4 Jumpers. During the weekend of July 20, Minikus and Quality Girl beat the heat and 23 other horse/rider combos to win the $25,000 SmartPak Grand Prix at HITS Saugerties. He attributes his great success in the ring to hard work, on his part and on the part of his equestrian partners. Minikus pays close attention to his horses, looking out even during routine tasks like currying or brushing for sign of soreness or unusual responses. As he says, “I like to be hands on, then I can get a real feel for what is going on with them.”

Competing and training with his equestrian partners is an important part of the big picture for Minikus. He reports that “there is a huge amount of work that goes on behind the scenes, and like racecar driving or any other team sport the team is the key.” Minikus says that Vita Flex allows him and his horses to work as a team to cross the fine line between first and second place and to ensure that he and his horses stay in the winner’s circle. The equine supplements from Vita Flex help improve horses’ overall well-being and keep them performing at their peak. “The management of the horse is the most important thing,” he emphasizes. The Vita Flex Victory Team agrees, and is excited to see how hot their team member is going to get this season.

The Vita Flex Victory Team is comprised of many world-class riders, including jumper riders Lauren Hough and Patty Stovel, dressage riders Adrienne Lyle, Caroline Roffman and Lisa Wilcox, eventer Jan Byyny, and reiners Bob Avila and Al Dunning. Vita Flex Brand Manager Tanner Clark congratulated Minikus on his wins, saying, “Todd is a top flight competitor, who always puts his horses first and is truly a master of his sport. Vita Flex is proud to support his horse’s nutritional and supplemental needs as he continues to rack up the wins during this humid summer.” In fact, Vita Flex recently premiered videos documenting their riders during the Winter Equestrian Festival and Global Dressage Festival, including one focusing on Minikus.
