Ron Burke knew what it was like to race against female pacer Chancey Lady, so when the trainer got the opportunity to buy her full sister, Camille, he jumped at the chance.

Burke and his racing partners – Weaver Bruscemi LLC, M1 Stable and Jack Piatt III – bought Camille in July after being the lessees for two months. The 5-year-old mare was owned previously by her breeder, Jack Pollard of Ontario. Since joining the Burke barn, Camille has won 12 of 21 races, including the $214,370 Ellamony last June at Flamboro Downs.

She is 2-for-2 this season, with both victories coming in the Blue Chip Matchmaker Series at Yonkers Raceway. Round three of the Matchmaker is Friday night, with four divisions on the card. The preliminary rounds continue through April 19 and the final is April 27.

Camille, who with Krispy Apple is the only undefeated mare in the series, will start from post five with driver Yannick Gingras in the third division Friday. The seven-horse field includes Anndrovette, who won a Matchmaker division last week, and Ramona Disomma, who was a first-round winner.
