Junior/Amateur and Open Jumpers Shine During Third Day of Old Salem Farm CSI2* Summer Jumper Classic
FEI Competition Concludes Saturday Morning with $65,000 Old Salem Farm 2* Grand Prix
Many Junior/Amateur and Open jumpers took over the rings on Friday at the Old Salem Farm CSI2* Summer Jumper Classic, which saw a break in its FEI competition ahead of Saturday morning’s $65,000 Old Salem Farm 2* Grand Prix. Among the day’s podium finishers was Dana Escales (USA), who claimed first and third in the Open Jumper 1.30m with two double-clear rounds.
With the beautiful backdrop of Westchester County’s surrounding horse country, Old Salem Farm hosts a year-round schedule of world-class equestrian competition. The Old Salem Farm CSI2* Summer Jumper Classic, August 19-22, takes place just a few weeks before the Old Salem Farm September Horse Shows, which feature FEI CSI4*/2* (September 8-13) and CSI2* (September 15-20) events.
Escales claimed top honors in Friday afternoon’s Open Jumper 1.30m aboard Samantha Davids’ Killer Queen Van Paemel Z with a fault-free time of 27.632 seconds; she also piloted her own Nabila into third place with a time of 28.389 seconds. Joining her on the podium was second-place finisher Taylor Boddy (USA), who stopped the clock in 27.989 seconds aboard Harris Equestrian LLC’s Lambiek.
Other winners included Remington Farms’ Merlins Victoire, ridden by Sadie Remington of Loxahatchee, FL, in the Junior/Amateur 1.30/1.40m (0/0/27.059); Clicquot Blue, owned and ridden by Nisha Tara Saraiya of Western Springs, IL, in the Open Jumper 1.20m (0/0/26.288); and Upper East 3, owned and ridden by Jorge Gomez of Loxahatchee, FL, in the Junior/Amateur Jumper 1.20m (0/0/26.543).
Competition will resume Saturday morning with the $65,000 Grand Prix before these divisions conclude and the week’s overall champions are crowned.
