CUR-OST® PROUDLY ANNOUNCES TEAM CUR-OST PROGRAM
Jonesville, N.C. (12.4. 2012) – Three leading competitors in the Olympic disciplines have signed on with Team Cur-OST® to represent the signature herbal supplement in the stable of Nouvelle Research products.
The Cur-OST® equestrians include USEF and CEF Hunter Jumper Judge and USHJA Certified Trainer Julie Winkel, Grand Prix dressage rider and clinician Shannon Peters, and eventing rising star Cassidy Sitton Reese.
The Cur-OST® products combine the power of curcumin and boswellia to reduce inflammation, pain and oxidative stress while providing support herbs to enhance overall health and recovery, reducing the potential need for prescription pain medication.
Practicing veterinarian and researcher Dr. Tom Schell discovered, after his own bout with cancer, that the combination of these herbs has profound antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects on horses with arthritis, insulin resistance, and laminitis.
Julie Winkel of Reno, NV, judge, course designer and successful hunter and jumper competitor, is a familiar face at the nation’s most prestigious horse shows including Devon, Harrisburg, Washington International, Capital Challenge, The Hampton Classic and Upperville Horse Shows. She also has officiated at the ASPCA Maclay Finals, USEF Medal Finals and New England Equitation Finals.
Dedicated to serving the horse community, Julie sits on the USHJA board of directors, chairs the USEF continuing education and USHJA officials committees, and serves on USEF national hunter and licensed officials committees.
Shannon Peters is a U.S. Dressage Federation Bronze, Silver and Gold Medalist, and two-time National Championship competitor, on Luxor in 2007 when the two were crowned Reserve National Champions Intermediare I, and on Flor de Silva in 2009 when they took home 4th place in the Intermediare division.
She loves to bring young horses through the levels, one of the most successful being Weltino’s Magic, with whom she won Reserve National Champion at the 2008 Young Horse Championships.
A popular dressage coach and clinician, Shannon and her husband four-time Olympian Steffen Peters operate a 65-horse stable and busy training business in San Diego, CA, that caters to competition horses and riders. Shannon also is the creator ShowRingShine, the boot care kit.
Three-day eventing is Cassidy Sitton Reese’s passion, a sport she started when in her early teens and which has pointed her towards a stellar competition and training career. The North Carolinian achieved USPC H-A Rating at 16 (youngest age allowed), graduated suma cum laude from Ball State University. She has trained with some of the best including Sinead Halpin, Blyth Tait and Rebecca Howard.
This rising star recently placed 4th out of 34 starting horses at beginner novice level at the American Eventing Championships, and placed 3rd at Intermediate in the River Glen Horse Trials with her own Subway Profit, an off the track Thoroughbred she took home only three days after his last race.
“The inflammatory response is needed to remove bacteria from wounds and to accelerate recover. However chronic inflammation leads to more cellular damage and impairment to recovery. Various prescription medications as well as joint supplements all have a place in the treatment, but leave much to be desired,” says Dr. Schell. “If a medication that was designed for use every six months is being used weekly, then a problem exists that is not being addressed.
“Curcumin is one of the most heavily researched anti-inflammatory herbs. This and the other herbs included in the Cur-OST® products rarely produce side effects and have a more broad approach to clinical problems and diseases.”
