Lignelli Finishes 1-2 in Open Jumper 1.30/1.40m Two-Phase Special at 2024 Old Salem Farm Summer Jumper Classic

Mitchell Wins Junior/Amateur Jumper 1.30/1.40m Two-Phase Special

Friday’s competition at the 2024 Old Salem Farm Summer Jumper Classic CSI2* featured various Open and Junior/Amateur jumper classes in the Old Salem Farm International Arena, including the Open Jumper 1.30/1.40m Two-Phase Special which saw 38 entries navigate over a course designed by Oscar Soberon. Alexa Elle Lignelli of New York, NY, proved the one to beat, taking first-place honors aboard Skyline Sporthorses LLC’s Helium (0/0/31.174) and finishing second aboard her own XO Cinderella (0/0/31.348).

One of the premier stops on the American hunter-jumper horse show circuit, Old Salem Farm debuts its new Summer Jumper Classic CSI2* at its beautiful North Salem facility August 21-24. Old Salem will also add to its world-class schedule with a new CSI4*/2* and CSI3* during its September Horse Shows.

Lignelli earned podium finishes with two of her three mounts in Friday’s Open Jumper 1.30/1.40m Two-Phase Special, piloting the 11-year-old Belgian Sport Horse gelding Helium and 9-year-old Zangersheide mare XO Cinderella into first and second place, respectively. Their speedy, double-clear times of 31.174 and 31.348 seconds were a full second ahead of their fellow competitors, except for Marie Hecart of Wellington, FL. Hecart posted a faultless round in 31.580 seconds aboard Tisara Quality Cruise, an 8-year-old Irish Sport Horse mare owned by Braintrust Stables LLC, to take third.

Later in the afternoon, 16 horse-and-rider combinations challenged the Junior/Amateur Jumper 1.30/1.40m Two-Phase Special to conclude the day’s events. Kiana Mitchell of Wellington, FL, was one of only four entries to go double-clear, riding Equines LLC’s 11-year-old Westphalian gelding Captain Grey 4 to victory in 35.045 seconds. Second place went to Allison Swank of Gibsonia, PA, and Kensington Farm’s 11-year-old Selle Français mare Danaide D’ors for their time of 36.037 seconds. Jeannine Scigliano of Somerset, PA, and her 12-year-old Westphalian mare Fair Play finished third in 36.093 seconds. Taylor Cawley of Wellington, FL, claimed fourth with a score of 37.766 seconds aboard Quiz, HS Sportpferde’s 9-year-old Swedish Warmblood mare.

Other jumper champions included Blair Sontag of Bedford Hills, NY, who rode her Don Juan in the Open 0.80m Jumper division. The Old Salem Farm Summer Jumper Classic CSI2* concludes Saturday with classes of all levels, including the $65,000 Old Salem Farm CSI2* Grand Prix.
