“Ready, set, go … to Steeplechase of Charleston”
(Hollywood, S.C.) Steeplechase of Charleston is returning as the premiere fall event in the Lowcountry. Presented by Hendrick Lexus Charleston, five high-stake horse races will run at the Stono Ferry Racetrack on Sunday, November 12, 2023. And with a purse of $100,000, jockeys from around the world will be attending. This year, Steeplechase has transitioned to a non-profit event, supporting the preservation of community journalism.
Race Director, Toby Edwards said, “Watching thoroughbred racehorses and their jockeys flash by in a blaze of color, heart stopping speed and the thunder of hoovers is the best way to spend a fall day in the Lowcountry.”
While the horse races are not taking place, guests can take advantage of the thoughtfully curated Merchant Market filled with the best of local artisans selling their unique products. Returning as a fan favorite, the second annual Corgi Race will be taking place throughout the day, where several corgis will have the opportunity to compete for the corgi cup title. There will be family-friendly activities taking place in the Family Fun Zone, as tickets for children 12 and under are free. Tailgate and VIP spots are open for purchase so you can bring a picnic to enjoy an afternoon of fun with your friends or family.

Gates open for Steeplechase of Charleston at 8 a.m., with the opening ceremonies beginning at 12:30 p.m., followed shortly by the races starting at 1 p.m. Tickets for this event can be found here, with General Admission, Tailgating spots and Hospitality tents available for purchase.
