ShowChic Hosts Olympic Prediction Night With Olympians Lars Petersen and Bent Jensen

Wellington, FL (July 18, 2012) – It was a night of divination at ShowChic dressage boutique in Wellington, as Olympic dressage riders Bent Jensen and Lars Petersen evaluated the horses and riders competing at the 2012 Olympics and shared their own Olympic experiences. Jensen and Petersen made predictions on which horse and rider combinations might win individual medals, as well as which countries might take home the team medals. Guests at the Shop Talk then were able to make their own predictions, and submitted them for a chance to win a $100 gift certificate to ShowChic.

The Olympic Prediction night at ShowChic was a standing room only affaire, as the two Olympic dressage riders discussed the state of the sport, the teams and riders they think will triumph in London, and bantered about judging and competition at the Olympic level. Both Petersen and Jensen agreed that the strong British team looked, citing the impressive combination of Charlotte Dujardin and her mentor Carl Hester. They had strong regard for the German and Netherlands teams, and not surprisingly, the Danish team as both rode for Denmark in their respective Olympic years. Both riders also spoke on the changes in the scoring system since their Olympic days, and Petersen shared that he felt that today’s Grand Prix dressage test is significantly less challenging than tests of past Olympics. “Previous Olympic tests included additional zig-zags, reinbacks, and movements like walk pirouettes that made the Grand Prix more representative of all levels of training,” Lars explained. Nan Sexton who owned Artiston, Bent Jensen’s Olympic mount, shared her insights from the owner’s perspective, rounding out the lively discussion leading up to the predictions.

“Bent and Lars had some very interesting insights,” said Michele Hundt of ShowChic. “Their combined knowledge and experience will hopefully serve them well in picking winners, and all of our guests certainly enjoyed hearing their take on this Olympics and getting a behind the scenes look at riding in such a prestigious event.” The ShowChic Olympic Predictions will be put to the test on August 7th for the Team competition and August 9th for the Individual, and everyone with the correct predictions will go into a drawing for a $100 gift certificate from ShowChic.
