Surgical Precision: Veterinarian and Choice of Champions Performance Award Winner Kristi Truebenbach Lund
Wellington, FL (March 10, 2014) – Dressage isn’t exactly as complicated as surgery, but that’s why Adequan Global Dressage Festival amateur division rider, Boca Raton veterinarian and Choice of Champions Performance Award winner, Kristi Truebenbach Lund, loves it.
Truebenbach Lund, riding Blue Marlin Farm’s 13 year-old Hanoverian gelding, Reel Adventure (Rotspon x Lanthas), embodied the spirit of the COC Performance Award, which salutes outstanding riding across the divisions during this year’s Adequan Global Dressage Festival, by turning in rock-solid scores in the sixties in her Adult Amateur FEI Prix St. Georges and FEI Intermediare I tests on Friday and Saturday.
But wait, there’s more. Call it Prix St. Grey’s Anatomy for horse people, but over the same weekend as the show, she was also back at Lund Animal Hospital, with six surgeries to perform.
“That’s dedication,” said Allyn Maix, president of Choice of Champions, International, who was on hand at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center to salute the COC Performance Award winner for her tenacious weekend of competition during the Palm Beach Derby CDI W and present her with its award and prize embroidered saddle pad.
“That,” referring to their I-1 on Saturday, “was probably our best ride all season.” A grinning Truebenbach Lund told Maix, “Today, I got his number.”
Getting recognition as an amateur, she added, was immensely rewarding.
“It’s tough as an amateur. I had six surgeries to perform yesterday before coming here to ride, and sometimes it’s hard to mentally switch over. So everything that can help encourage a confident performance is really appreciated.”
“What’s especially inspiring is that Kristi has worked with Reel Adventure since he was a four year-old. That’s commitment. Few schedules are more demanding than those of veterinarians. To see Tinne make riding at one of the top dressage series in the world such a priority is amazing,” praised Maix.
The COC Performance Awards salute above-and-beyond performances by horses and/or riders at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival, and include commemorative COC tricolors and embroidered saddle pads.
In 2006, Choice of Champions, International was started by Allyn Maix, whose 30 years of experience in the horse industry stands behind specialized equine supplements dedicated to making a difference.
