Olympian Dottie Morkis Wins Vita Flex Victory Pass Award Aboard Artiest at the GCDA Fall Fling

Wellington, FL (December 7, 2012) – Olympian Dorothy “Dottie” Morkis rode to the top of the 3rd Level Test I aboard her own horse, Artiest, in their first show together at the Gold Coast Dressage Association Fall Fling. Scoring 69.079%, and winning the VitaFlex Victory Pass Award was quite an accomplishment for the pair, especially considering Morkis has only been back in the saddle since July after recovering from recent knee surgery. “He’s smart. He’s a little clever, and he thinks a little too much on his own,” smiles Morkis about working with the 7 year old Dutch Warmblood. “I would like to end up the season with a few more 3rd Level rides just to go in the ring and get to know him, and also get him used to showing,” she explains.

Morkis bought Artiest, a 3-year-old by Torento B, after recognizing his amazing potential for dressage. “You can see in him that he’s going to have a good piaffe and a good passage,” she describes, “You can just see it in his mechanics.” Morkis explains that she would love to do the Developing Horse Class with Artiest, but will have to wait and see when he’s ready to move up. The Vita Flex® supplements she won as a part of the Victory Pass Award will help with this.
