Davis and Toronto Lightfoot Close Out WEC December Dressage with Grand Prix Special Victory
The Grand Prix Special CDI3*, presented by MARS Equestrian was the highlight class on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at World Equestrian Center – Ocala (WEC) during the WEC December Dressage CDI-W, presented by Hampton Green Farms. While the show comes to a close, dressage will return for a full schedule of events in 2026.
Judges Peter Storr, Magnus Ringmark, Gabriela Valerianova, Sarah Geikie, and Sandra Hotz awarded Davis and Toronto Lightfoot a score of 69.958%, nearly breaking the 70% that they achieved in Thursday’s Grand Prix CDI3* class. Second place with 68.276% went to Anna Marek (USA) and Fayvel, a 15-year-old KWPN gelding by Zizi Top x Houston owned by Cynthia Davila. Chase Shipka (USA) and Gladstone Zee T, her 14-year-old KWPN gelding by Apache x Jazz, scored 68.085% for third place.
Davis was beaming following her ride, having achieved their goal of improving on Toronto Lightfoot’s relaxation and “softness over the topline.” That relaxation was evident the most in their passage and piaffe.
“I felt like I was able to show that a little more today, which was super,” said Davis. “It was a pity about the one-tempis having that boo boo, but the two-tempis were super. After a mistake happens, you have to let it go and focus on the next movement, and that’s what we did. I thought the one-tempis on the center line were also very good as a little redemption.”
Toronto Lightfoot, who is called “TT” in the barn, loves his people and having his people around him. “I’ll sit in my chair in his stall, and he just kind of hovers over top of me. We call him a little bit of a creeper, because he’s always watching,” she said with a laugh. “I think that partnership has built trust in the competition ring.”
While Davis has a training business, she was able to come to WEC with just TT and focus on her own riding for the week. With assistant trainer Regan Walmer at home with the rest of the horses, Davis did all of the chores and horse care for TT herself. “It’s really nice, and I get to spend quality time with the horse too, which is always super,” she noted.
“Regan gives me total peace of mind while I’m here,” she added. “I know the horses are all taken care of. That gives me a lot of freedom to do my best here.”
