ANNOUNCING THE 11th ANNUAL FRANKTOWN MEADOWS HUNTER DERBY

The Franktown Meadows Hunter Derby looks forward to resuming its tradition of celebrating a Weekend of Equestrian Excellence on June 25-27, 2021. After ten years of being continuously hosted, COVID forced the cancellation of the event’s eleventh year. The event’s return is with full acknowledgement that COVID has changed how things are done. Athletes, sponsors, and spectators will find logistical and competitive changes that have been made with careful consideration to ensure the competition maintains the essence of what makes it “everyone’s favorite horse show.”
NEW FOR 2021
COVID has made it impossible to plan an equestrian competition whose entire purpose is tailored to the spectator. The tradition of offering a VIP experience and audience is untenable in these times of social distancing. Consequently, there will not be an International Hunter Derby for 2021. This decision did not come easy and is considered short term. This class will return, as the main event, in 2022.
Without spectators and an International Hunter Derby class, the 2021 schedule will shift its focus to the exhibitor. New for 2021 – Friday and Saturday will host hunter divisions from poles to 3’3″. Sunday will still be Derby day. In addition to derbies being offered at division heights, the Franktown Meadows Hunter Derby will continue with the tradition of hosting the $5,000 Non-Pro Hunter Classic and $10,000 Franktown Meadows 3′ Hunter Derby.
The MacLean Family, organizers, countless volunteers, judges and sponsors look forward to seeing everyone at this year’s Franktown Meadows Hunter Derby.
