Changes Ahead for HITS Saugerties

Next stop, New York! HITS Saugerties will have a new footprint with new footing for the upcoming year. The Grand Prix Ring will be resurfaced, along with the former Diamond Mills Ring, which will become the grand prix schooling ring. Next to the remodeled Ringside Cafe will be THE Ring, a new competition area showcasing top equitation, hunter and jumper classes throughout the week. The Main Hunter ring will continue to showcase some of the best horses in the country in our beautiful stone-lined arena with refreshed footing.

HITS will be teaming up with Wordley Martin once again as they prepare to makeover HITS Saugerties ahead of the 2023 show season. They will be resurfacing three rings and more than 205,000 square feet of riding arenas at the world-class venue, showcasing HITS’ dedication to providing the best experience for both horses and riders at all of its venues.

“Our exhibitors can once again expect an entirely new experience at HITS Saugerties, just like they saw us produce at HITS Ocala,” said HITS CCO Joe Norick. “We are thrilled to be teaming up with Wordley Martin again to provide premium riding surfaces for our horses, and our new layout will showcase the best the sport has to offer for both riders and spectators in a format that is friendly for all.”

Wordley Martin co-founder Sharn Wordley added, “After the resounding success of renovating the Grand Prix and Main Hunter Arenas at HITS Ocala, Wordley Martin is very excited to team up with HITS once again in Saugerties. We look forward to providing the very best riding surfaces for horses and riders at this venue.”

The enhancements for 2023 include the return of FEI show jumping, featuring the Hudson Valley Jumping Tour July 19 – August 6. The Hudson Valley Jumping Tour will run as follows:

HITS-on-the-Hudson IV CSI3*: July 19 – 23
HITS-on-the-Hudson V CSI2*: July 26 – 30
New York Horse & Pony Show CSI3*: August 2 – 6

And of course, the season will culminate with the HITS Championship, featuring a CSI 4* Grand Prix, new USHJA Derbies, the USHJA 3’3″ Adult Gladstone Cup Equitation Classic, the USHJA 3’3″ Adult Jumping Seat Medal Finals and new 2’6” and 2’ Derby Finals.
