Ocala, FL (April 25, 2013) – The Sanctuary Peak Performance Award was presented to 20-year-old Christina Kelly after her success at the Longwood Farm Classic Show April 4-7, 2013 in Ocala, FL. Sanctuary Equine Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation Center was excited to present Kelly with the award due to her committed efforts to complete equine conditioning and training through the Grand Prix level.

The Sanctuary General Manager, Brenda McDuffee, says, “Our Peak Performance Award recognizes and honors equestrians who are dedicated to our same level of care for their equine athletic partners – before, during and after the shows.”

During the Longwood Farm Classic, Christina Kelly competed with three talented mounts including two of her own. Ushuaia Van De Wolfsakker, a 9 year-old Belgian Warmblood by Presidente, and the talented Camirage, a 12 year-old German Warmblood by Charisma both owned and competed by Christina Kelly. Finally, she also competed Caprice Z, an 11 year-old German Warmblood by Chellano Z, owned by Halcyon Hill LLC of Elizabethtown, KY.

Kelly states, “All the horses were super – Ushuaia Van De Wolfsakker won the Welcome Stake and was third in the Grand Prix. Camirage won the 5,000 1.30m stake and Caprice Z was second in the 1.20m and fourth in the 5,000 1.30m stake.”

Recognizing the importance of conditioning, Kelly focuses on flat work at home while also including limited gymnastic work to prepare for competitions. Kelly says, “We don’t jump them much at home apart from a little schooling before we go to the show.” Also, each horse is hand walked daily for 30-minutes along with their riding workout.

As a part of Kelly’s program, she includes Sanctuary treatments including the cold-water leg spa, the Magna Wave and the vibration plate. “These are all wonderful treatments to be able to provide for my horses and I am extremely grateful that they are so readily available. They leave my horses feeling refreshed, relaxed and supple!” comments Kelly.

“I was thrilled to receive the Peak Performance award as my staff and I take my horse’s fitness and well being very seriously. It is always nice to be recognized by other professionals in the sport of Showjumping,” states Kelly.
