Corta-Flx® Concludes Summer in the Rockies in Style By Recognizing Outstanding Equine Athletes

Parker, CO (July 26, 2017) – Corta-Flx®, a leading equine supplement company and official sponsor of the Colorado Horse Park’s Summer in the Rockies show series, has been supporting superior mounts at the Colorado venue by presenting its Sport Horse of the Week Award to one outstanding horse during each week of the seven week-long competition. To finish out Weeks VI and VII of the Parker, Colorado show series, and to celebrate the end of yet another successful Summer in the Rockies, Corta-Flx presented its last two awards to two superior horses: Stevens, ridden by Aleece Jarman, and Costa, piloted by Sam Berry. Both exceptional mounts were chosen for the award for being prime examples of exceptional equine fitness, soundness, and athleticism.

As a part of the award, Corta-Flx presented both Jarman and Berry with a handsome tri-colored sash for their winning mounts, as well as full-sized Corta-Flx supplements. Each winning horse

received a bottle of the company’s namesake product, Corta-Flx joint solution, as well as a bucket of U-Gard ® pellets, a gastric supplement proven to reduce the severity of gastric ulcers in horses.

Jarman was thrilled to accept the award after a fantastic ride aboard her mount, Stevens, which earned the pair a second place finish among six jump-off rides in the Week VI 1.30m Open Jumper class. “My horse performed really well,” remarked Jarman. “I was a little bit nervous about the course at first because it seemed more technical than some of the other courses I have ridden at the Colorado Horse Park so far, but he was really good and super straight forward, so it went well.

An up-and-coming rider who recently turned professional, Jarman has been riding since she was just four years old and plays a prominent role in the success of Aubrey Hill Equestrian of Pace, Florida, a hunter/jumper/equitation facility owned by her parents, Michael and Karen Newman. “It is a comfortable environment, being able to work with people I am so close with,” she said.

Sam Berry, who piloted the beautiful dark bay gelding Costa, also earned a second place ribbon in a field of 13 horse-and-rider pairs, besting the majority of the entries in the Horseware Ireland Performance Hunter 3’6” class during Week VII. Berry commented on Costa’s remarkable character saying, “Every day Costa is a really great horse to be around; he is beautiful, and just a good soul.”

Originally from Colorado, Berry is currently the Assistant Trainer at FoxGlen Farm, a first class hunter/jumper/equitation facility located in the North Texas town of Argyle, and owned by Jim and Joan Hensen. Although Berry has been riding Costa for only a couple of months, the rapport the two have and the potential for future successes in the show ring is evident.

“Costa’s owner, Margaret Lattimore, does the equitation classes with him and I am lucky enough to get to show him in the 3’6” performance hunters,” Berry said. “I have also done a couple of derbies with Costa and hope to attend the regional finals in St. Louis, Missouri, this September with him and his owner.”

In addition to integrating his new Corta-Flx supplements into the farm’s comprehensive feeding program, Berry said, “Our biggest focus is keeping the horses happy; making sure that they have a good feeding and workout schedule. At home they have turnout every day and that seems to really keep them happy, but our focus in training–with everything–is to make sure that the horses are our friends and that they want to be doing their jobs.”
