Crate and Barrel Fall 2020: Classic artistry meets modern craft

  • Crate and Barrel pays homage to classical workmanship
  • New themes embody the Modern prairie, Urban retreat, and New Deco
  • The youthful and constantly evolving Trove collection is inspired by Danish design

This fall, Crate and Barrel brings a renewed focus to modern craft. The Fall 2020 collection features items stylised in new designs and grounded in time-honoured artistry. With new items arriving mid-August and throughout September, the collection aims to lean into the warm tones and changing climate of the new season, making the home a destination to be enjoyed.

Influenced by the work of American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the Modern Prairie designs encourage being at home with nature, embracing it in crafted detail, earthy textures, and wooded views. The furniture collection emphasises warm woods and natural materials, bringing the outdoors in and creating harmony between humanity and the environment. Colours are neutral and rooted in earthy tones, such as browns and warm amber with pops of ochre. With a focus on cane, wood, and leather, items including the Wells leather sofa or Anaise bed demonstrate quality in craft, restraint in ornamentation, and an organic palette of colour and materials.

For a more poetic and serene atmosphere, the Urban Retreat theme provides luxury in the details. Dwellers can sink into soft textures, colour-washed hues, sustainable materials, and welcoming silhouettes. Classic elegance gets a fresh face in the curved Rouelle sofa with chenille-like fabric. Meanwhile, an artful tinge meets traditional details among the Ezra Glassware set, perfect for hosting a refined and sophisticated gathering.

Remixing the Art Deco aesthetic of the French Belle Epoque for modern living, the latest season’s collections make a bold statement with a glam twist in the New Deco. Striking black and white contrast and fresh style meet timeless design in the Lecourbe sofa, harkening back to and re-making the familiar Parisian style and sophistication of yesteryear. Specifically catering to small spaces, the New Deco features items such as the Valter accent table, a slender column rising from the floor and slowly flaring out into a round tabletop perfectly sized for a drink, a treat, and a book.Crate and Barrel Fall 2020: Classic artistry meets modern craft #eliteequestrian elite equestrian magazine

For those with a more youthful eye, Trove — an ongoing collection to be updated seasonally — presents energising colour and striking silhouettes in the forever modern look of Danish design. Trove caters to sleek, modern small space apartments. Under this theme, designs of the old world meet new life in artful contrasts. Punched-up pastels bring a vibrant energy to an apartment with graphic architectural interest. Trove is designed to suit the young, sophisticated person or couple seeking a clean vibe with hints of classical European décor. Framed as a collection of right-now looks for the creative home, Trove — as a concept — will be refreshed every season, reflecting an ever-evolving outlook inspired by the world’s most stunning cityscapes.

The Fall 2020 collection is true to the season’s impulse to start anew and allows customers to create an artful space where they feel most comfortable. The latest collection is available at Crate and Barrel’s Dubai stores at Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Mirdif, and the Dubai Mall. It can also be found online at crateandbarrel.me.
