and plans to use it on her new beautiful Anglo-Arabian horse, Whisper, who she is riding in the Low Adult Amateur Hunters. “My parents teach me how to be a good sport with everything,” explained Matos about winning the award, “My dad was a tri-athlete for years, so I understand a lot about competitive sportsmanship. That, and years of riding has taught me that a positive attitude is the best attitude to have!” Matos is training with Sean Jones at Palm Beach Riding Academy. Jones also recognizes that her positive attitude contributes to her competitive success. “Melissa is a very quick learner, and she has a lovely horse. She keeps getting better and better every week,” he said. They were both appreciative to Draper for also noticing that Matos always puts her Best Foot Forward when she and Whisper are at the shows, giving it their best.

Also winning the Best Foot Forward award was Laura Karet, who is in Wellington for the season showing her two Warmbloods, Caliber and Red Carpet. “I do this because I love doing it, and I love being with the people and just being around horses,” Karet explained about her secret to a positive attitude. “It’s always better to smile and be supportive of the team around you and all of your friends. It’s just more fun that way!” Back home in Pittsburg, Karet is the Chief Executive of the Giant Eagle super market chain, and she trains with Tom Wright of Uphill Farm which is based in Nashville, TN. She is also the mother of three children who are beginning to ride and show horses, themselves. Karet said that she is honored to win the Best Foot Forward Award from Draper, and is looking forward to using the therapeutic products they offer.
