Everglades Dressage’s DeCavan Receives Premium Rating From Oldenburg Horse Society
Wellington, FL (December 13, 2013) – Everglades Dressage, located in Wellington, FL and home to Grand Prix Dressage Rider and Trainer, Bethany Peslar, added more proof of its outstanding breeding program when their colt, DeCavan, was awarded the highest premium rating from the North American division of the Oldenburg Horse Society. “I knew this was a special colt from the moment he was born,” smiled Peslar, “which, by the way, was literally while the Nations Cup was happening, on Friday night during the Freestyles! I knew that was the first sign of his future success, and now, this premium rating is solid proof. He’s going through a growth spurt, right now, at 5 months,” the proud owner continued, “but you can still see the expression – and he’s a big colt! His movement is incredible. He’s very powerful and has a lot of energy.”
DeCavan is out of Amia, a Blue Hors Cavan mare, and by De Niro (Donnerhall x Akzent II). In 2012, De Niro was ranked #1 in the World Breeding Rankings as a sire of Grand Prix horses. In fact, 6 of his offspring competed in the 2012 Olympics, two of which were on the German team. DeCavan’s dam, Amia, competed through Intermediare I level in the U.S. and has all the character and rideability that marks a top broodmare. Amia’s sire, Blue Hors Cavan was a successful international Grand Prix horse with Lars Petersen.
For Everglades Dressage, the future is getting more exciting each day. Most recently, Everglades proudly announced that Endel Ots Dressage has joined their barn. Peslar, who has owned and operated Everglades Dressage, is especially excited to welcome Ots as a great addition to her barn. Now, working in conjunction with a fellow USDF Gold Medalist, she believes that they will be able to bring many more young horses and new Grand Prix dressage prospects to top levels and develop them into National Champions. “Bethany has a fantastic breeding program and a lot of top young horses coming along,” Ots stated. “So, one of the goals we’ve been discussing is to get more horses into the national championship levels.” Ots is a USDF Bronze, Silver and Gold medalist, and has finished 2 horses to Grand Prix in his young career.
Peslar is a USDF Bronze, Silver and Gold medalist, and was the 2006 Reserve Champion in the National Young Adult Grand Prix Championship “Brentina Cup” at Gladstone, and she is a successful USEF High Performance Grand Prix competitor. Peslar’s impressive list of accomplishments includes earning her USDF Gold Medal in 2003 at age 21. She is also a strong supporter of equestrian programs in the United States.
