Hans-Dieter Dreher wins RCPB Trophy
German rider Hans-Dieter Dreher, riding Vestmalle des Cotis, has clinched victory in the RCPB Trophy, the opening event of the 111th CSIO Barcelona. The German equestrian was the fastest among the 58 participants on the Olympic track of the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona, ahead of Belgian rider Gilles Thomas on Puskas de Kalvarie and Dutch rider Jur Vrieling on Girffin van de Heffinck. The top-placed Spanish rider in this two-phase event was Mariano Martínez Bastida, riding Jup, finishing in eighth place.
At 2 PM, the second event of the day will be held, the qualifying competition for the Longines Nations Cup final. Fifteen countries will compete to qualify among the top eight and advance to the Sunday final, while the remaining seven will compete in the Longines Challenge Cup on Saturday night.
