McMahon Tops First CSI5* Class of LGCT New York

Topping the first CSI5* class of the week at the 2022 Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT) of New York was Irishman Eoin McMahon on Chacon, a 16-year-old Oldenburg gelding by Chacco-Blue x Aventyno owned by Madeleine Winter-Schulze. The pair sped to the win in 25.84 seconds in the 1.45m competition in two phases.

“There were some spooky fences on the course today, but my horse handled it very well,” said McMahon. “It’s a big week for my team, the Berlin Eagles, so to get this win today really starts us off on the right foot.”

Hans-Dieter Dreher and Cous Cous, a 10-year-old Holsteiner stallion by Cachas x Lasino owned by Sipe Handels Ag, took up the second spot in 26.48 seconds, while fellow Irishman Shane Breen was third with Haya, his and Old Lodge’s 10-year-old KWPN mare by Mylord Cathargo x For Pleasure, close behind in 26.65 seconds.
