Medina Spirit galloped to victory in the 147th Kentucky Derby
On May 1, 2021 Longines was proud to time the victory of Medina Spirit, ridden by John R. Velazquez in the 147th Kentucky Derby in Louisville (USA). To mark their remarkable victory in what is considered “the most exciting two minutes in sports”, the Swiss watchmaker awarded Medina Spirit’s owner, trainer and jockey with Longines timepieces. Second place was taken by Mandaloun ridden by Florent Geroux, followed by Hot Rod Charlie ridden by Flavien Prat. Earlier that day, the Longines Churchill Distaff Turf Mile prize was claimed by Blowout and Flavien Prat, who established a lead over New York Girl and John R. Velazquez, close behind.

Longines also served as Title Partner, Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the Longines Kentucky Oaks, with an exciting win from Malathaat and John R. Velazquez.
This weekend, fans from all over the country showed their Oaks and Derby style from home in the Kentucky Derby Fashion Contest by Longines. A panel of judges, including Lifestyle Bloggers, Olivia Rink and Beau Hayhoe, along with Longines US Brand President Brittany Garcia and former fashion contest winner Rachel Weigler-Benson, selected the most elegant contestants, keeping with the brand’s motto, “Elegance is an Attitude.”
Longines DolceVita: The Official Watch of the 147th Longines Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby
