Mia Bagnato Wins $10,000 Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort 1.40m Open Stake at Lake Placid Horse Shows
Ashley Shaw Wins Discovery Dream Homes 1.20m Amateur Jumper Classic
Mia Bagnato rode Florida N to the win in the $10,000 Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort 1.40m Open Stake, Saturday’s featured class at the 55th annual Lake Placid Horse Shows (LPHS), Sponsored by Bainbridge Farms, LLC, and Presented by Sea Shore Stables, LLC. Featuring a full, two-week schedule with more than $540,000 in prize money, the Lake Placid Horse Shows continue at the North Elba Showgrounds through July 7.
The horse show announced changes to Sunday’s schedule. Because of rain, no classes will be held in the Richard M. Feldman Grand Prix Field on Sunday. Classes and other activity scheduled for that ring – the CMJ Sporthorse 1.35m Junior/Amateur Jumper Classic, Great American Insurance Group 1.45m Junior/Amateur Jumper Classic, Big Z’s Lead Line Class, Saratoga Horseworks Parade of Champions, and $75,000 Grand Prix of Lake Placid – will be held in the combined Hunter Rings starting at 2:00 p.m., following the conclusion of those rings’ hunter classes.
Saturday’s competition in the Richard M. Feldman Grand Prix Field was highlighted by the Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort 1.40m Open Stake, Discovery Dream Homes 1.20m Amateur Jumper Classic and the 1.20m Junior Jumper Classic. Six entries rode clean over the 15-jump first-round course designed by Michel Vaillancourt in the Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort 1.40m Open Stake, with two going clean over the seven-jump, jump-off course. In the jump-off, Bagnato claimed the win with the faster of the two clean rides, riding Florida N to a time of 26.808 seconds to earn the win over Matthew Boddy who finished clean in 28.938 seconds on Fantastic de San Isidro.
In the Discovery Dream Homes 1.20m Amateur Jumper Classic, Ashley Shaw topped a field of 23 entries with two clean rounds on Adico and the fastest jump-off time of 30.219 seconds. Hudson Warren placed second with a clean jump-off ride and a time of 31.339 seconds on Pembrey Condors Diamond, while third went to Mackenzie Cianciolo who had the only other double clear and a jump-off time of 33.434 seconds on Firestone CZ Z. Taking top honors in the 1.20m Junior Jumper Classic was Jenna Bach on Cajulio.
Located in the historic Olympic town of Lake Placid, NY, the annual LPHS offer two weeks of exciting equestrian competition in a setting no other horse show can match, surrounded by breathtaking views of the Adirondack Mountains and the chance to enjoy countless activities that help make the Lake Placid Horse Shows, “The Best Two Weeks of a Horseman’s Summer!” LPHS hosts competitions for riders of all levels and ages ranging from young children on polished ponies, to glistening hunters, to Olympic veterans aboard their grand prix mounts.
Each show day, LPHS action starts at 8:00 a.m., with classes running simultaneously in four spectacular show rings – the Richard M. Feldman Grand Prix Field, the E.R. Mische Jumper Ring, the Main Hunter Ring, and the Hunter Ring. The Lake Placid Horse Show (June 25-30) is highlighted by the $75,000 Grand Prix of Lake Placid on Sunday, June 30. The I Love New York Horse Show follows on July 2-7, with highlights including the $75,000 Richard M. Feldman Grand Prix on Sunday, July 7. Each week also features a $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby.
