Pletcher, Schatt Open FTI WEF Season with Draper Therapies® Knock Your Socks Off Award
Wellington, FL (January 21, 2014) – If their first days back on the Wellington show circuit are any indication, two WCHR stars are going to have a stellar season ahead as both Peter Pletcher and Haven Schatt rode away with Draper Therapies® Knock Your Socks Off Awards during Week One of the FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival.
“We just finished second in the First Year Green, and did a really big Hack class and Balin wasn’t nervous at all,”said Schatt, who began competing professionally at WEF in 1991. “We were also fourth in the jumpers, so I’m thrilled, because he is green and the jumps are bigger. If anything,” Schatt added with a grin, “he’s getting little full of himself!”
An always ready grin and upbeat attitude, as well as top scores, earned three-time WCHR Rider of the Year Peter Pletcher his Knock Your Socks Off Award.
A favorite among the FTI WEF barns for his good sportsmanship and upbeat nature, Pletcher is opening his season at the top of the leader boards with Eva Bisso’s apty-named mare, Aura, one of roughly 50 horses he has brought with him to Wellington for the next nine weeks.
“She’s been going around the ring nicely, so far we’ve had the top score,” said an amiable Pletcher, whose 30+ year career in the hunter/jumper world has including winning the 1991 President’s Cup at the WIHS, receiving the 2002 Emerson Burr Trophy and Chronicle of the Horse Rider of the Year awards, and three (2002, 2004, 2007) AHJF World Champion Hunter Rider of the Year titles.
“Peter and Aura are a knock-out combination,” said Draper Therapies’ Becky Shipps, “while it’s always a pleasure to see a trainer as accomplished as Havens bringing new horses along through the season. Both riders truly did ‘knock our socks off’ this week.”
The Knock Your Socks Off Award recognizes exceptional performances, rides or efforts that spark special attention at a show. Each award winner gets a new pair of Draper Therapy socks, made with Celliant®.
The world’s most technologically advanced fiber (with a proprietary blend of minerals extruded into polyester fiber) Celliant helps alleviate pain and encourages the vasodilation of blood vessels, to increase the amount of oxygenated blood reaching poorly circulating areas. Increased blood flow and tissue oxygen levels support muscles and joints in combating the stiffness, soreness and edema caused by aging, injury or arthritis.
The FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) is the world’s largest and longest running equestrian competition. The 12-week event, which runs from January 9 through March 31, awards over $6 million dollars in prize money and hosts 5,000 horses and 2,800 riders from 50 states and 31 countries at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center.
Draper Therapies’ innovative products also include scientifically-proven therapeutic horse blankets, boots, wraps and saddle pads, dog beds, mats and clothing. Studies – done independently by three separate doctors – have shown Celliant increases tissue oxygen levels which have been shown to increase performance, relieve pain and improve muscle recovery.
