Skylar Wireman Sails to CSIO3* Win in Traverse City
Skylar Wireman (USA) piloted Barclino B to a victory on home soil in the $32,000 Ingram Family CSIO3* Qualifier on Friday during Nations Cup week at Traverse City Horse Shows’ Great Lakes Equestrian Festival (GLEF), presented by B&D Builders.
The 11th season of GLEF features six weeks of FEI competition running through August 10, showcasing an FEI Nations Cup CSIO3*, the FEI North American Youth Championships, and the return of Major League Show Jumping CSI5* competition to Traverse City. Highlights also include the $100,000 USHJA World Championship Hunter Rider Central Spectacular and weekly qualifiers for the all-new $150,000 Traverse City Equitation Championships debuting in September.
From a stacked field of 43 competitors, Wireman was one of nine to advance to the tie-breaking jump-off built by course designer Nick Granat (USA). Returning last, the pressure was on, and Wireman rose to the occasion with her 9-year-old Holsteiner gelding. The 20-year-old stopped the short course clock at 37.10 seconds to take the victory and bump Canada’s Nicole Walker to second aboard Atout des Trambles (39.02 seconds). Conor Swail (IRL) rounded out the top three in 39.31 riding Qoreen van’t Ruytershof.
