The Vluggen Institute for Equine Osteopathy and Education is dedicated to creating exemplary equine osteopaths in art, knowledge, capability and expertise, with the integrity to the horse, the horse community and the equine osteopathy in mind, through the highest intensive education possible.
It is our goal / mission to promote and educate the Equine Osteopathy as an independent profession, with verifiable high leveled standards and scientific foundation, formulated and regulated by the World Alliance of Equine Osteopaths (WAEO) and the International Register of Equine Osteopaths (IREO®), to the horse community worldwide, complementary and in conjunction with veterinary medicine to provide the equine professional with more options and insights to benefit the health of the horse.
Janek Vluggen D.O., MRO-EU, EDO® (Founder and principal instructor of The Vluggen Institute) is recognized as the leading expert in the field of modern Equine Osteopathy.
Graduated as a human osteopath D.O., from the International Academy of Osteopathy in Ghent Belgium, he was trained and taught extensively in the importance of the visceral system in relation to the skeleton system according the visceral concepts of Jean Pierre Barral D.O.MRO-F
His fellow student Pascal Evrard D.O. MRO-B author of the book:’Introduction á l’osteopathie structurelle appliquée au cheval’, at that time was developing and modifying the structural techniques from the early equine osteopathy into safer and more applicable techniques.
The two innovators made a pact to bring the equine osteopathy to the highest possible standards considering all(!) pilars of the modern osteopathy: the parietal system, the cranio sacral system, and as it was longtime thought impossible on the equine, the visceral system.
It was Janek Vluggen’s merit to develop the modern visceral concept as a methodical application to the horse in relation to the autonomic nervous system, and the cranial sacral system.
As a researcher, innovator, thought-after therapist and popular lecturer in the United States as well as Europe for over two decades, he has built a significant following worldwide.
It was Dr. Luann Groves DVM. Janek Vluggen still runs a successful human osteopathy practice with his son in Germany.
At this moment we are offering in Europe and USA :
A) A consecutive ten modular, VET course study of four days per module, for: veterinarians, osteopaths DO, Dr. of chiropractic physiotherapists and animal physiotherapists, four to five times a year.
B) A consecutive fourteen (depending on credentials) modular, NON-VET course study of four days per module for all other certified therapists and bodyworkers and education holders.
The courses and the manuals in the USA and Europe are: identical, interchangeable and taught in English.
