Thoroughbred Is Back on Track Thanks to Laser Therapy From The Sanctuary
Ocala, FL (October 9, 2012) – Canaan Land, a 12-year-old Thoroughbred gelding owned by Niall Brennan Stables, is back on track working as a pony horse following a nasty laceration on his neck that potentially could have ended the horse’s career. Thanks to Laser Therapy from The Sanctuary Equine Sports Therapy & Rehabilitation Center, a state-of-the-art equine therapy and rehabilitation center in Ocala, Florida, Canaan Land is not only back at work but his owner’s are praising The Sanctuary and Laser Therapy for a job well done.
Stephanie Brennan, of Final Furlong Stables, said, “We use The Sanctuary on a routine basis at our training facility for both preventative and therapeutic care. Canaan Land was in his paddock on September 16th when he was involved in a fight with another horse and broke a fence board that left him with a giant v-shaped laceration on his neck. “Canaan Land’s injury was in such a place that we were very concerned that the sutures wouldn’t hold,” Brennan said.
Canaan Land began Laser Therapy at The Sanctuary. Treatments were done for three consecutive days and then every other day for an additional three treatments. “Once we started lasering the wound we could see daily healing,” Brennan said. “He was injured on Sept. 16 and was back in full work on October 20th with the wound probably 90% healed. I was out of town when he hurt himself and my father, who is a physician, saw a photo of the initial wound and couldn’t believe that a wound of that extent had completely healed in that time frame.”
While Brennan is thrilled that Canaan Land recuperated from his traumatic injury, she give credit to the staff at The Sanctuary for being a part of the gelding’s successful recovery. “I think one of The Sanctuary’s biggest asset is their staff. The girls that deal with our horses truly care and always go the extra mile with them.”
