Two OTTBs Grab Grand Reserve Champion at HITS Winter Circuit in Ocala, Fla
This winter season, two OTTB’s, a 6 year old, Last Malachi (aka Kai) and an 8 year old, Wild Summer Storm (aka Samson) went to HITS horseshow Ocala, Florida to compete for the first time in the Winter Circuit. These two both just came back home to NY w/ Grand Reserve Champion awards, one in hunter and the other in the jumper arena.
Samson and Kai are trained by the seasoned Grand Prix Rider, Debbie McCarthy Connor the head trainer and co-owner (with her husband Peter Connor) of Phoenix Horse Farm in Patterson, NY and Ocala, Florida. Debbie rode Samson and Taylor Lampert rode Kai to this amazing success.
Sara Nemerov the mom/owner to these two thoroughbreds owns the company, Envy Branding and Management, a celebrity management and branding company (clients include; Jerry Garcia Estate, Alli Simpson, Chevy Woods, The German Horse Rider, Yelawolf to Chelsea Houska from Teen Mom, among others). Ms. Nemerov has loved horses since she was a child and now has three OTTBs.
“My first OTTB I bought for $2,500 and was a bag of bones with a hock injury from the track. A lot of my horsey friends thought I was nuts spending money on him, he failed the pre purchase and got a score of 3 on body composition. I spent money on a surgery, rehab and a lot of time getting him healthy and he was able to become an incredible horse, one of my bravest pals to this day,” says Ms. Nemerov
“Thoroughbreds have heart and are extreme athletes and that combo allows this breed to be capable of almost any type of riding career, if trained and cared for right,” says Ms. Nemerov
