3 Year- Old Friesian Takes 1st Place For USDF All- Breeds Award

OLD CHATHAM, NY (October 21, 2012)— “French Light Dressage” is pleased to announce that Fedrik, a three year old friesian gelding, owned by Charlton Equestrian Center and Kevin and Terri Anne Dougherty has been awarded the 2012 FPZV Adequan/USDF All-Breeds award at training level in the open division. The United States Dressage Federation (USDF) announced the final year end standings last week on October 15, 2012.

Fedrik’s pre-purchase was in February by Dr. Carol Vischer-Safran, of North East Performance Equine in Saratoga, NY and purchased by the Dougherty’s in March of this year. Both the Dougherty’s and Dr. Vischer could see the magic and talent in young Fedrik, and his potential was definitely due to his breeding lines. His sire is an approved friesian breeding stallion and his dam has produced an approved friesian breeding stallion in addition to many top quality Ster offspring.

In addition to taking first place in the 2012 FPZV Adequan/USDF All-Breeds award, Fedrik ranked 13th at the 2012 USDF Region 8 Championships in Saugerties, NY. “Fedrik is a unique young horse,” states his trainer, David Donnelly of French Light Dressage. “ He is remarkably level headed, quick to learn and holds tremendous promise for the future.” Fedrik’s training schedule was conservative with 30 minutes under saddle 4 days a week. His median score for the 2012 USDF show season was an exceptional 69.8, a unique and by far outstanding accomplishment for a young horse of his age.

“We love Feddi, as we love all our horses, but we knew that he was definitely special for such a young horse,” says his owner, Terri Anne Dougherty. “Fedrik’s accomplishments are a true testament to the friesian breed, and the exceptional training by David Donnelly,” states Kevin Dougherty.

With this years show season at a close and winter upon us, French Light Dressage is focusing on preparing for next season, and seeing how many other stars can be reached next year!
