Every ACTHA Trail Challenge held over the Veteran’s Day weekend, will assist in raising much needed funds for Horses For Heroes- New Mexico, Cowboy Up! INC. ACTHA Ride Hosts across the nation will also have the ability to donate a portion of those funds raised to their local nonprofit organizations that support our wounded warriors.

Horses For Heroes – New Mexico, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. Cowboy Up! is a unique horsemanship, wellness and skill-set restructuring program based in Santa Fe, NM free to Veterans and active military who have sustained physical injuries or combat trauma (PTSD) during their time serving our country. From day one Veterans are hands on with horses, beginning with groundwork and progressing to riding, as well as participating in other aspects of ranch life, including working cattle and more importantly experiencing the camaraderie with cowboys who are Veterans themselves.

ACTHA’s Co-Founder Karen VanGetson is proud to host this event,” Coming from a military family (Semper Fi!) and having used the benefits of horses and riding for my own child suffering from a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), it is beyond words that I can express, how excited I am to get to impact the lives of our soldiers suffering from war. The funds that will be donated to Horses for Heroes NM, Inc. will go directly to operating costs, meaning they will directly impact the lives of soldiers to help them heal on horseback”.
