Equus Film Festival NYC 2014 Awards Winners Tour to Screen at Silver Springs International Film Festival Ocala in April
Northampton, MA (March 10, 2015) The Equus Film Festival NYC Winners Tour of 2014 ‘Best Of’ award recipients will screen on Friday and Saturday, April 10-11, during the Silver Springs International Film Festival at the restored Marion Theatre in Ocala, Florida.
This is exciting news for horse and film lovers, said EFF NYC creator, Lisa Diersen. Ocala is called the horse capital of America so this really could not be a better place to offer the chance to see our Winners Tour of films, videos and documentaries that won last year.
Film festivals play a significant role for communities by attracting tourism, creating positive economic impact, creating opportunities for community involvement and enhancing the image of a destination, said SSIFF organizers. We are excited to include the award-winning works from last year’s Equus Film Festival. The Silver Springs International Film Festival, which opens April 8 and continues through Sunday, April 12, discovers and encourages independent artists from the U.S. and the world and drew more than 3,000 attendees in 2014.
The only event of its kind dedicated to the horse, this year’s Equus Film Festival NYC, November 20-22, will again highlight and award the diverse and creative efforts of those in independent filmmaking, music, theatre, art and advertising who pay artistic homage to the horse and are inspired by its influence on human history, culture, media and the arts. In response to interest in EFF NYC, this year’s event has added a third day to its program of screenings, interviews with producers, art, equestrian fashion and trade shows and a Saturday evening gala.
In 2014, Equus Film Festival NYC 2014 presented 119 films and videos at Harlem’s MIST Theatre and presented its equestrian equivalent of the ‘Oscars’ in 14 categories including best Equestrian Music Video (Song for Hawk), Commercial (Vinnie: No Dream is Too Big), Series (Free Rein), Documentary (Tarpan), Art Film (The Nap), International Film (Horses of Fukashima), Equestrian Director (Camilled Manolo), Native American Film (Horse Tribe), People’s Choice (D’Artgnan is the Champion) and Best of Festival (Riding My Way Back).
