Wellington, FL (May 10, 2013) – The Nations Cup CDI is a rare spectacle in dressage, and this year’s event was even more special for the team at Everglades Dressage, as they welcomed a new foal. Named De Cavan, the elegant bay colt was born Friday night during the Nations Cup Freestyles.

“It was exciting that he was born literally while the Nations Cup was happening! Hopefully this is a sign of his future success,” said owner and trainer, Bethany Peslar. Everglades Dressage, a premier dressage training facility in Wellington, Florida, is breeding their future dressage superstars. De Cavan or the “Nations Cup baby” as he is affectionately called, is out of Amia, a Blue Hors Cavan mare, and by De Niro (Donnerhall x Akzent II). In 2012, De Niro was ranked #1 in the World Breeding Rankings as a sire of Grand Prix horses. In fact, 6 of his offspring competed in the 2012 Olympics, two of which were on the German team. De Cavan’s dam, Amia, competed through Intermediare I level in the U.S. and has all the character and rideability that marks a top broodmare. Amia’s sire, Blue Hors Cavan was a successful international Grand Prix horse with Lars Peterson.

“De Cavan is full of energy and has a lot of power in his movement. He loves doing lots of flying changes as he gallops around his paddock and has been doing so since only a few days old!” comments Peslar on her new foal.

Everglades’ has achieved much success with their breeding program. Most notably, a filly named Wysteria. She has already received the highest Premium rating from the North American division of the Oldenburg Horse Society. Wysteria shows exceptional gaits, temperament, conformation, and impressive movements. She is by the stallion, Rousseau, and out of the international Grand Prix mare Waldora.

Peslar also bred the full sister to Wysteria, named Walina, who is just one year older. And the first horse bred by Peslar, a four year old gelding out of Waldora and sired by Pik L, is now under saddle. All of the foals of Everglades Dressage are bred using top quality mares and international level dressage stallions. With both fillies and their newest addition of De Cavan, Peslar hopes for great success in the dressage arena in the future.

Everglades Dressage is based in Grand Prix Village of Wellington, Florida, and offers dressage training for all levels of riders from Training level to Grand Prix. Peslar offers boarding for clients in training, and also allows clients to trailer in their horses for lessons. She focuses on helping riders achieve success with an emphasis on correct seat and effective aids, and her training program offers lesson horses through the FEI level.

Peslar is a USDF Bronze, Silver and Gold medalist, was the 2006 Reserve Champion in the National Young Adult Grand Prix Championship “Brentina Cup” at Gladstone, and is a successful USEF High Performance Grand Prix competitor. Peslar’s impressive list of accomplishments also includes earning her USDF Gold Medal in 2003 at age 21. She is also a strong supporter of equestrian programs in the United States.
