July 2013 Wrap Up

We were fortunate to have, world renowned course designer, Werner Deeg and many of the countries top riders and horses at Princeton Show Jumping this week.

The USEF Young Jumper classes were once again filled with talent. Diardo, owned by Michael Smith, ridden by Ramiro Quintana, won the 5 year old class. Double H

Farm’s HH Cantino, ridden by Ramiro Quintana, won the 6 year old class. Kathleen Kamine’s Marquis, ridden by Paul Halpern, won the 7/8 year old class.

Beautiful weather, an exhibitor BBQ, patriotic jumps and 44 in the Welcome Stake made for a great fourth of July. Ziedento and Ramiro Quintana were victorious in the $10,000 Princeton Show Jumping Welcome Stake for the second week in a row! Jeffery Welles and Billion were very last to place second. Bull Run’s Becky Blue and Megan McDermott were third.

The $5,000 Precise Buildings Speed Stake was won by Athletic Lady and Colin Syquia. The $1,500 1.20m Stake was won by Taylor Burns and Cordero Zaffiro. Julia Imperatore rode Ben-Sky to victory in the Low Children’s Adult Jumper Classic and Abigail Heffern won the High Children’s Adult Jumper Classic aboard Lacongo.

The $5,000 Low Junior/Amateur Classic was won by Madison Goetzmann and Veronieque. Chelsea Moss and Lorena 90 won the $10,000 SHOF High Junior/Amateur Classic.

The $5,000 Future Jumper Classic was won by Vantina HPF owned and ridden by Linda Sheridan and bred by Hidden Pearl Farms. They took the lead from HH Cantino and Ramiro Quintana who put in a very fast clear. HH Cantino would finish second and South Street and Georgina Bloomberg placed third.

On Sunday, local spectators watched some of the countries best young riders compete against seasoned professionals in the $30,000 Grand Prix of Princeton. The course was a true test of adjustability. 5 out of 28 found their way around without fault.

Schuyler Riley and Carney Hough Manx returned first and put in a clear effort ultimately finishing fourth. Ramiro Quintana and Ollywood Des Horts gave it their all, and had the fastest time, but faulted at the last fence. Megan McDermott and the appropriately named Bull Run’s Becky Blue were last to go. Becky Blue jumped beautifully and galloped to victory edging out Timo and Cody Auer by tenths of a second.
