The Komen Central and South Jersey Ride for the Cure – October 20, 2013
Millford, NJ – On Sunday, October 20, 2013, the 3rd Annual Komen Central and South Jersey Ride for the Cure® will be held at Alexandria Park in Millford, NJ. The Ride, hosted by Susan G. Komen for the Cure Central and South Jersey, includes a horse trail ride (hunter’s pace welcome) through beautiful Alexandria Park and Schick Reserve.
The day will feature musical entertainment, great prizes and a hearty lunch. Paws and Rewind will be onsite to take photos of the riders and their mounts. The registration and check in begins at 7 am with riders heading out on the trails between 8 – 11 am. There is no registration fee but participants are asked to raise $250. Limited to 150 riders who bring their own horses, the day promises to be memorable as riders follow an equestrian trail through this exquisite and tranquil park in Hunterdon County. Following the ride and presentation of Gold, Silver and Bronze awards, activities will include a festive wrap up party, local musical entertainment, prize drawings, lunch, and plenty of horses and riders in pink.
More than a trail ride, the Ride for the Cure® will celebrate breast cancer survivorship, honor those we’ve lost and support a future without breast cancer. Approximately 6,500 women in New Jersey will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013. Twenty-five percent of the funds raised at the event will fund national breast cancer research programs bringing us closer to the cure. The remaining 75% will support local breast cancer education and screening programs in Central and South Jersey. In 2013, the affiliate invested over $1.1 million and will reach 25,000 people and provide 8,000 free mammograms.
