Todd Minikus wrapped up the final week at Tryon in a blaze of glory by catching a ride on Caron Stuckey’s Luigi and riding him to victory in the $35,000 Welcome Stake.

“It looked like it was a fast jump-off. I got the opportunity to go last and took advantage of it. I could do less drive down the line than anybody else and that was the closer.” said Minikus of his winning ride.

A few previous highlights during the summer circuit at Tryon for Team Minikus were: a flurry of championship ribbons for Minikus and Exceptional culminating in the duo winning the $15,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby, Minikus riding Alice Lawaetz’s Incitatus to victory in the $6000 1.40m Nutrena Power CSI 2* and Speed Open and bagging 3rd place in the $86,000 Adequan® Grand Prix CSI2* during week V of competition. Additionally, Minikus racked up multiple wins and top placings in the open jumper division on VDL Excel, Juju VDM, Spring Girl, Los Establos Sporthorses’ Chablis S, and Autumn View’s “Golden Sun.’

“I was so proud of all the horses we took to Tryon. It is so rewarding to see the young horses develop and make their way up the ranks. In particular, I was so pleased with Exceptional’s progress, He is a wonderful horse and I am so thrilled with his most recent success,” remarked Todd after a rewarding summer series at Tryon International Equestrian Center.

Team Minikus takes it on the road again to compete at the two star and the four star competitions in Chicago in two weeks and then they’re off to the five star at Saugerties. Minikus is looking forward making his mark in Chicago and Hits-on- the-Hudson, New York.

“The whole gang is coming on the road with us to compete at Balmoral and Saugerties. Quality Girl is back after a break and I am excited to get her back into the swing of things,” said Minikus.

Minikus and his line-up of top mounts are scheduled to compete at Balmoral Park, Chicago for the end of Summer Series. Next they’re off to Saugerties Hits- on-the-Hudson VIII for the FEI CSI5*.
