Travis Lyons Crowned 2018 Champion of Champions
The 2018 Arizona Horseman’s Challenge & Expo made its debut in Queen Creek at the Horseshoe Park & Equestrian Centre. This action packed Expo held more than 40 clinics as well as the colt starting competition over the three day event. The Arizona Horseman’s Challenge this year was one for the record books. The champions from the last five years all came together in an ultimate “Challenge of the Champions.”
The Horses were all BLM mustang mares from the Florence Prison holding facility. All of the trainers made great progress with their mares, and there was plenty of action in those Corral Kraft round pens over the three day competition. At the end of the weekend, Travis Lyons of Cornville, Arizona in the Verde Valley was chosen as champion by the expert judging team of Clay Harper, of California, Greg Robinson out of Texas, Jody Swink of Black Canyon City, and Larry Nelles from Cave Creek.
The Fan favorite award went to Thomas Clover from Idaho, formerly out of Tucson. It was an incredible weekend of learning, watching talented horse trainers make training a mustang look easy, and a ton of shopping! The dates for next years Arizona Horseman’s Challenge & Expo are April 19, 20 & 21, 2019
