The much-anticipated Opening Day of the 16-week winter polo season at the International Polo Club (IPC) was an extraordinary afternoon, with a sold-out crowd of spectators soaking up the sunshine. Trendsetting fashion was in full display, exotic supercars lined The Pavilion, and chilled champagne and lavish brunch stations welcomed guests to the exciting festivities and traditions that showcase Sunday polo.

Renowned Broadway stars and sisters, Ann Hampton Callaway and Liz Callaway, performed the National Anthem, and Hollywood actress Tatum O’Neal followed the duet with the ceremonial coin toss. The final match of the Herbie Pennell Cup saw two fierce 20-goal teams, Casablanca and Villa del Lago, competing for the prestigious trophy, while spectators cheered and polo ponies thundered down the field. At the halftime divot stomp, Villa Del Lago was in the lead, 9-5, but Casablanca rallied from the five-goal deficit in the second half to score an impressive 13-11 win.

The Veuve Clicquot Fashion on the Field winner, Leot Taylor, was a standout in a chic Lela Rose full-skirted dress in a muted tropical print, offset with a wide, pink brushed suede belt that cinched her waist. Her coveted prize was a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Champagne.
