The Ridge at Wellington Turf Tour
Wellington, FL – December 5, 2014 – Since its inception in 2012, The Ridge at Wellington Turf Tour has filled a need in the Wellington horse community. It breaches the ordinary to become Wellington’s elite show experience with talent, turf and hospitality reminiscent of the finest “National” horse shows in Europe. The “Turf Tour” Grand Prix Series hosted by Olympian Nona Garson and her partner, George D’Ambrosio, has earned rave reviews from amateurs and professionals alike.
This year’s series has been extended to 12 weeks, offering an additional week of competition in the grand prix fields of Wellington . Riders, owners and onlookers will have the chance to enjoy a relaxed atmosphere reminiscent of what can only be described as show scene tradition.
The Ridge at Wellington Turf Tour Grand Prix Series has returned to the Wellington show scene with resurgence, beginning January 7, 2015, and culminating in an exciting finale event March 27, 2015.
The Ridge at Wellington Turf Tour was designed to develop young riders, as well as young horses, and the inaugural event became the talk of the Wellington circuit with an unprecedented amount of earnings at stake for Level II Jumpers. The event has been hailed as the highlight of the season with top riders, amateurs and juniors alike choosing to ride in the invitational series, challenging their young horses to a new experience during the Winter Equestrian Festival. This year the series is back, bigger and better than could have been anticipated with the total prize money just under $500,000.
The Ridge at Wellington will offer their wildly popular 1.40m Grand Prix series as well as an array of options for 1.30m-1.35m Jumpers, Young Jumpers, and for the first time this year – Jumper Classics for Children/Adult, Low Junior/Amateur and The Masters.
For the second year, The Ridge At Wellington will be hosting USEF Special Events featuring the USHJA International and National Hunter Derbies on February 6 and March 20. Also in 2015, the Ridge at Wellington will host an exciting USHJA Pre-Green Incentive Classic during each of the hunter derby days.
In addition to “The Turf Tour”, throughout the winter season, The Ridge will also be offering fun and “low key” schooling shows once a month from December through March featuring classes from leadline to 1.30 jumpers with Marshall Sterling points awarded; and USEF Rated Equitation Shows every Tuesday from January 6th through March 24th offering Pony, Children, Adult Amateur, and Medal/Maclay riders a chance to qualify for “The Finals” in a more relaxed atmosphere during their stay in Florida.

Rodrigo Pessoa -“The Turf Tour ” is refreshing & beautifully presented – something different . It is a perfect setting for young horses to develop & learn for future International competition. It offers huge benefits by moving to different venues. Management is superb and very accommodating for all riders, owners, and most importantly our horses. I’ll be there every week.
Ali Wolff -” I came out last year for many of the Grand Prix classes …The venues are always so nice, and the atmosphere is so pleasant, everyone is happy. It gets repetitive for 12 weeks in a row at the other horse show. I love having the opportunity to go on the grass. We love the series and are definitely returning this year.
Phillip Richter – “The Ridge Series provide an excellent venue for green and older horses alike. The courses ask good questions, the atmosphere is collegial, and the footing is manicured turf. The shows provide a fun experience that is akin to a toned down Spruce Meadows with palm trees and a friendly all day barbeque. The option to show at any time during the day is a real advantage if you are an amateur rider like me with a busy work schedule. From a value perspective, the entry fees are reasonable and the prize money is great.“
