TEMPUS JETS 13TH ANNUAL USPA WORLD SNOW POLO CHAMPIONSHIP
ASPEN, CO, October 8, 2012-Fasten your seat belts as the Tempus Jets USPA World Snow Polo Championships is scheduled to land in Aspen on December 15-16, 2012 at Marolt Park in Aspen, Colorado. It will be a jet propelled championship in every sense of the word. Some of polo’s biggest stars will be there; including Carlos Gracida (10 time U.S. Open champion and his son Carlitos , John Gobin (6 time U.S. Open arena champion ), Tommy Biddle (10 goal arena champion and only the fourth player in the history of the sport to achieve this ranking) and Alan Martinez (7 goal star).

Snow polo was first introduced in 1985 at the resort town of St. Moritz, Switzerland. The World Snow Polo Championship is the only snow polo tournament in North America that is sanctioned by the USPA (The United States Polo Association).
It is a modified version of polo, where games are played on a snow-packed arena surrounded by fencing, keeping the ball in play. Teams are comprised of three players, as opposed to four in regulation polo. Play consists of four 7-minute chukkas (periods) and horses (polo ponies) are shod with special cleated shoes to provide better traction. The ball is larger, lighter and bright red to accommodate winter conditions.
The 2012 tournament will consist of four teams who will compete in a two- day single elimination tournament to win the coveted USPA Championship. Team sponsor Ciroc, the premium French vodka is the official beverage for the event as they were in 2011. U.S. Polo Assn. licensed by Jordache, is back on board as the official apparel provider and Team sponsor.
