US OLYMPIC EVENTING TEAM MEMBERS CHOOSE TO TRAIN DAILY ON A WORDLEY MARTIN RIDING SURFACE!
Ocala, FL (August 16, 2012) – Preparing and qualifying for the Olympics is a massive commitment, taking years of hard work and preparation in order to develop each horse and rider combination to the fullest. Training at the highest level of the sport requires an unyielding commitment to excellence and Wordley Martin wishes to commend their Olympic clients on their efforts in Greenwich. Several members of the 2012 US Eventing Team Members (Will Coleman, Phillip Dutton and Karen O’Connor) train at home on a Wordley Martin surface.
Wordley Martin Premium Riding Surfaces, based out of both Ocala and Wellington, provides equestrian arena architecture, construction, installation and footing products. They specialize in constructing premium riding rings through careful site analysis, proper site preparation and correct installation of exclusive surfacing products. Their client list is quite impressive and includes endorsements from top riding professionals such as Kevin Babington, Peter Pletcher and Double H Farm, as well as thoroughbred trainers, veterinarians and members of both the US and Canadian Eventing Teams!
The founders of Wordley Martin, Sharn Wordley and Craig Martin, are life long equestrians who have show jumped at the top level of the sport internationally. To this day, Sharn Wordley continues to compete on the international show jumping circuit, with more than 50 grand prix titles to his name. Being in the thick of the show community ads value to their business, keeping Wordley Martins’ finger on the pulse of the market. They understand the bio-mechanics of horses and the impact that footing can have on soundness and trainability. The knowledge that they have gained and the relationships that they have forged throughout their competitive careers have certainly influenced the direction of their business.
Wordley Martin clients who are members of the 2012 US Eventing team are a fabulous example of how satisfied customers have helped build their business. During 2008, Will Coleman met Craig Martin while competing in Europe. Back in the states Will rode on a Wordley Martin arena at Kevin Babington’s facility in Blue Bell, Pa., subsequently installing a Wordley Martin ring at his own farm in Virginia. Through this tight knit eventing community word spread quickly, and Phillip Dutton’s outdoor ring at True Prospect Farm was constructed shortly thereafter.
Prior to the 2010 World Equestrian games, members of the US and Canadian Eventing teams were in Ocala for their winter training sessions, but torrential rain caused flooding at their regular training facilities. Team Canada, under the coaching guidance of David O’Connor, held several training sessions at Sharn Wordley’s farm on his all weather ring. Impressed with their all weather footing materials, Team O’Connor (David and Karen) contacted Wordley Martin to install new footing in Mrs. Jacqueline Mars’ indoor at Stonehall Farm in The Plains, Va. Current plans are underway to begin construction at Meredyth South, Mrs. Mars‘ winter facility in Ocala.
It is not by chance that so many Olympic event riders have been able to manage and sustain the soundness of their upper level horses on a Wordley Martin surface. Wordley Martin Equestrian has become the choice of Olympians, USET members, Pan American Games medalists and others who value quality riding rings. Whether you compete at the local or international level, Wordley Martin arenas provide an ideal environment in which to train and compete safely and confidently.
